Buchanan Chapel / Walnut Stacking Chair

John and his team at Fine Furniture, Inc. had the pleasure to assist in the design, engineering, and prototyping of the solid walnut stacking chairs. The design criteria included the following needs, a comfortable chair, an aesthetically pleasing but strong frame, the ability to stack, and a space within the frame for storing a bible and hymnal. The challenge was met with great success.

After the approval of the final design and prototype, Fine Furniture, Inc. was contracted to fabricate and finish 320 chairs for the beautifully designed Buchanan Chapel.

The chair frame is solid American Walnut constructed with mortise and tenon joinery for superior strength. The chair back is ergonomically designed bent plywood, veneered with a quarter cut walnut face veneer. The back seat rail has a radius corner cutout which allows access to the enclosed space within the seat rails, which allows storage for a bible and hymnal. The chair is finished natural with a satin catalyzed polyurethane. The seat is upholstered with dark chocolate leather. A very pleasing and functional combination of design and workmanship.
